Kisakihama
Kisakihama became a popular surf destination after a world class contest in 1991. Now it’s one of major surf points in Miyazaki and many surfers visit here from all over Japan.
It has about three kilo-meter broad beach and various kind of breaks. Through a year you can find constant waves. When the big swell hits, strong currents forms.
ISA WSG 2019
From September 7th to 15th, at Kisakihama Miyazaki, ISA World Surfing Games (WSG) was held. WSG is the world championship of surfing promoted by International Surfing Association (ISA).
240 surfers representing 55 countries participated in WSG 2019. This is the largest-ever number of participants and countries, including the first entry Samoa, Lebanon, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Thai. As WSG 2019 was designated as a contest to qualify for 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour surfers joined in.
At Kisakihama, a lot of international surfers, enthusiastic surf fans and those who first watch live surfing games crowded the beach, and WSG 2019 was a great success.
